The Montessori Classroom

In a Montessori classroom the learning objective is approached in two different ways: firstly, by allowing each child to experience the excitement of learning by his or her own choice, and secondly, by helping them to perfect all their natural tools for learning.

The Montessori Method aims to develop each child’s concentration, co-ordination, persistence, self-discipline, orderliness, desire to learn, independence, initiative and creative self-expression.

The habits and skills that a child develops in a Montessori class remain with the child for life. They will help the child to work more efficiently, to observe more carefully and to concentrate more effectively, no matter where he or she goes.

Our Philosophy

(We reference David Gettman’s Basic Montessori as well as

Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework)

We strive to be a place of learning, not of teaching.

Intellectually: We allow children the freedom to discover joy in learning by fostering the development of creative intelligence, curiosity, enthusiasm and commitment, becoming confident and involved learners.

Emotionally:  We  assist children to become strong by building inner security, tranquility, self-confidence and independence and a strong sense of identity.

Physically:  We assist children to become physically strong and develop coordination of movement, balance and poise developing their sense of well-being.

Socially:    We assist children to become socially responsible and respect their natural environment, connecting with and contributing to their world.

Montessori prepares each child for life’s journey.
