Torquay Montessori Centre was established after a series of community meetings revealed the need for an alternative early education provider in the rapidly growing surfcoast area in the mid 1990′s. In 1996, Amy Vasher-Cockle began operating a 3-5 y.o. Montessori program out of Bellbrae Primary School with the help of a small but enthusiastic group of local parents. In 1997, a permanent site was purchased on the corner of Darian Road and Henty Street Torquay and the kindergarten was developed and licensed for operation. In the years that have followed, Torquay Montessori Centre has grown and made a reputation for itself as the quality provider of alternative early education on The Surfcoast. With the asstiance of a dynamic parent body and the drive of centre founder and co-ordinator Amy Vasher-Cockle and the dedicated teaching staff, the centre continues to grow from strength to strength.
Torquay Montessori Centre offers half sessions for 3 year-olds and full day kindergarten sessions for 4 to 5 year olds.
